Philipp Springer, DK6SP

Involved in amateur radio since 2008 with the educational callsign DN5KID, Philipp was first licensed as a novice (DO6PS) in 2011 and upgraded to his current callsign (DK6SP) in 2013. Philipp, aged 26, is a keen HF and VHF contester from Erding, Germany. Starting his contesting journey with the DL1A team, he can now often be heard using the callsign DQ5M. During his recent DXPeditions and contest activities, he has been active as 3B8M, 8R7X, 9J2LA, P40X, PJ4V, TK4W, and many other locations. Including these operations, he has visited over 50 DXCC entities and operated from more than 30 of them.

Philipp is a member of clubs such as the Bavarian Contest Club (BCC) and CWOPs. He also serves as a Director on the Board of the World Wide Radio Operators Foundation (WWROF) and is the President of the German DX Foundation (GDXF). Additionally, he is the former Chair of the Youth Working Group within the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) Region 1. Philipp is an active ambassador for youth in amateur radio in many regards, promoting participation and engagement among young enthusiasts. He has participated in the World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) twice, in 2018 in Germany as Y82D with HA8RT and in Italy in 2023 as I47B with M0SDV.

Professionally, Philipp works as a Project Manager in the automotive industry, providing software logistics for an international client. He recently graduated with an MSc in Logistics and Digitalization.

Philipp will serve as the Team Leader for the “V7 - Marshall Islands 2025” project.
